Although we’re at the point in the PL Matrix, there is no sell signal just yet.

The long swing trade has generated big profits since the latest buy signal in June… have a look.

Yes, that’s correct… almost 13 points of profit!

But, given what the Prime-Line Matrix is showing now, it’s time to closely protect those profits.

The current swing Stop shown near 130 risks way too much now, so it’s time to switch timing filters.

Today we look at two takeover candidates… not new news as you’ll see in a moment. These two stocks have had big moves and our software caught those moves early… the big question now is: has this gone too far too soon?

CT’s daily chart of AGU shows the buy signal (yellow bar) and the current stop (green dot).

The Protective Stop is also shown on CT’s Radar (first image above) as 64.08.

Compare the difference between the Last price and the Stop price… about 4.5 points. Now compare this to the P/L (open profit) … about 15.5 points.

CT Market Analyzer is telling you there’s a lot of risk: about 30% of open profits to say in the trade. That is much larger than usual this late in the swing trade.

So what to do? Prime-Line Matrix can help.

The green circle shows current price within the AGU Prime-Line Matrix.

You can see it is at an important point because it has crossed into a new PL Strata… the light green line.

The blue circles show the targets weeks into the future and you see they’re big compared to the risk.

What is the risk? CT is showing it at 64.08… the problem is that’s below both the PL Matrix light green and purple dash line… not good as price below those are very vulnerable, whereas price above them provide good risk and reward.

The Matrix is telling us we’d like to see price above 70. But it’s 68.65 now… what to do?

Keep a stop below the green line which is now near 67.70… lock in profits there (note much higher than CT’s stop).

Then, if price gets back above the green circle go long for a potential move to 90 – 110.

We are talking about food supplies, population growth, wild fires in Russia, crop shortages, etc. If you’re looking for a simple play on agricultural commodities directly, the PowerShares DB Agriculture Fund (NYSE: DBA) could be one of the best. This ETF tracks 11 different commodities through the futures market, including wheat, corn, soybeans, coffee, live cattle and hogs. It passively tracks the Deutsche Bank Liquid Commodity Index and charges only 0.85% in expense fees.

Many of these markets have moved up considerably, but DBA has been trading in a sideways channel for almost two years. Have a look at what the Prime-Line Matrix looks like and see if it’s ready for a long-term move up.

The green circle is where we are now. The low off the Prime-Line Extension (green dash line) may prove to be point B of a larger initial ABC move up. If that’s the case, the initial upside targets are shown by the orange circles.

The PL Matrix upward scenario remains valid with price above 22.90. Friday’s close was 25.97… so there’s about 3 points of risk. Upside target at 31 projects reward at 5 points. A ratio of less than 2:1 is nothing to get excited about.

Moving the protective stop up just under the lower PL Strata boundary (bottom of green circle near 25) improves the ratio considerably to 5:1.

The Prime-Line Matrix also shows where positions could be added to and where to place protective stops.

Head and Shoulders, Right Ear Droop, Blinking Eye – really, we’re poking fun at the notion of “Price Patterns” in general. It’s another form of a losing trader trap.

Once you break free from the notion that markets are predictable, you enter a totally different space: one of simple risk-reward analysis.

But the question remains of how to see a true picture of risk-reward. Enter the Prime-Line Matrix.

Today’s report is about Apple (AAPL) because one could speculate there’s a sort of a Head and Shoulders Top developing. And, some times charts do appear to have patterns, but these patterns are mere mental images, they don’t really exist. What does exist is the hidden framework just underneath the surface of the chart – have a look at this AAPL example.

From a simple risk-reward analytical viewpoint – you wanted to sell your longs and go short when price came back under the Prime-Line confluence at the blue circle.

Who cares what it was, the point is you had exceptionally small risk control and very large potential reward in comparision.

Now (the last bar on the right), that risk control is gone and there’s little to do except watch.

Two things can happen next…

Price will go the lower orange circle, or go to the upper pink circle – and it really doesn’t matter, unless of course you took that short signal.

If you did, you know where your protective stop is using your timing filters along with the Matrix.

Otherwise, you wait until another identifiable Prime-Line Matrix risk-reward opportunity comes along… and they come along each and every day if you have the right market scan tools that alert you to the opportunities.

So, just maybe you can see that mental pictures of price patterns don’t matter at all?

There’s one thing about the EURUSD pair that few traders know. I’m going to share it with you in this post, right now: “Accuracy”. The EURUSD has outstanding accuracy as measured by The Prime-Line Matrix. What this translates into as a trader is exceptional risk-control. And, as we speak, the EURUSD is approaching one of these highly accurate risk-control points… or in Prime-Line language “ControlPoint”.

The following EURUSD Prime-Line Matrix chart shows the implications of what’s happening.The green circle pinpoints current Matrix confluence at 1.27200.

This Matrix CP is especially significant as it includes the intermediate-term PL Break Line.

So, what to do right now?

Several of our market-timing filters have generated buy signals recently. But, until such time as price moves above this CP, there’s little in the way of risk-control. If price breaks through the CP, placing a stop below would offer good risk-control for a move above 1.30… the orange circle.

Failure here is something to monitor closely as a short trade might prove to be the most profitable. A timing filter going from long to short near the CP would offer low-risk and as you see from the Matrix chart, high-reward back toward 1.20.
